What is the St Paul Lacrosse Association Philosophy?

SPLAX is highly focused on player development. We strive to teach the fundamentals of lacrosse, which includes;

  •  Individual player skills and using these skills in conjunction with team play
  • Fair Play & Sportsmanship
  • Equal Playing Time for "Equal Participation"

My player is new...

New players are welcome, in fact, embraced on all teams. Lacrosse is a rapidly growing sport and we welcome all new players to participate.

How long is the season?

The season kick offs Mid-April with uniform pick up, rental equipment pick up (if needed) and an introductory practices. Spring practices will follow twice be 2 days per week and Saturdays until Memorial Day weekend (detailed schedule TBD). Practices will be held at McMurray turf fields ,1101 W Jessamine Ave. The field is located by Como Park.

Summer practices and home games start the beginning of June and runs through the end of July. Practices are typically 3 days per week (Monday - Thursday evenings).

Boys (U12 and U14) will play in the state tournament at the end of the season. The tournaments typically occur the last week of July.

What is the difference between activities in the Spring verse Summer? 

Spring practices are geared to teach basic skills to new players and sharpen experienced players skills.  Summer season includes practices and games vs other associations in the east metro.

How do I register? 

Registration begins on February 15 on our website www.stplax.org. There will be a big “Register Now” button when the system is ready to go. All registration info, registration fee, US Lacrosse membership will be detailed.

How do I know what team my child is on? 

Boys’ teams are determined by birthday. If we have enough registrants we may be able to field two teams at that age level. Below is a quick birthdate reference guide.
